Hong Ling was born in 1955. He is from Beijing and belongs to Bai nationality. He graduated from the Department of Fine Arts of Beijing Normal University in 1979 and the Department of Oil Painting of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1985. He is currently professor in the third studio of the Department of Oil Painting of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Since Winter and Snow was selected into the 1991 Chinese Oil Painting Annual Exhibition and won the prize for outstanding works in the last century, his works have been constantly appearing in important exhibitions in Hong Kong, Belgium, France, Singapore, Italy, Korea, Taiwan, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. His representative works include Hometown, Xiaoxiang Smoke and Rain, Cold Snow, Landscape Spirit and Autumn Grass. In 1995, Hong Ling Painting Exhibition was held in Hong Kong Gallery, and the album of the same name was published in the same year.
