Masana opened his studio in Granollers in 1914 and the one in Barcelona in 1921. His work centred mainly on commissioned work, essentially portraits, a genre in which he was considered one of the great masters of his time. From his pictorialist beginnings he has left some excellent testimonies. 'Art de la llum' and 'Arte Fotográfico' published work by him. However, the most innovative facet of his work was advertising photography, with his bold combinations of typography, photo-montage, plays of light and shadow or the feeling of movement, which can be appreciated in this picture.
