  • About the Work: The work of Alvaro Barrios is characterized by the use of pop art aesthetics references to art history, the employment of irony and its questioning of concepts of authorship. Primarilyknown as a printmaker and considered one of the most important conceptual artists in Colombia since the 1960s, Barrios, in this comic strip, presents a satirical criticism to of the upper classes and their frivolous approach to art. The characters discuss their interest on finding a work of art that brings together the style by artists from opposite artistic movements such as Maurice Utrillo, a French classical artist from the beginning of the twentieth century, and Piet Mondrian, the father of abstract art, or Marcel Duchamp, the father of conceptual art and Jeff Koons, a Pop Art artist.
