Nandalal Bose was one of the illustrators of the Indian Constitution. Nandalal experimented extensively with mural painting, often working in collaboration with his students.
As a student, a visit to Ajanta Caves in 1909 profoundly impacted Nandalal Bose. In his later works, he would often draw upon the paintings he had seen at the historic caves. This undated work on display here is his copy of a mural at Ajanta depicting the Buddha's mother, Maya.
