Paresh Maity has done 81 Solo Exhibitions in forty years. He has painted the longest painting in India, which stretches up to over 850 feet. The British Museum and the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, have collected his work. In August 2010, he had his 55th solo show with watercolour paintings based on the last 15 poems of poet Rabindranath Tagore, Shesh Lekha. In 2014, the Government of India conferred upon him its fourth-highest civilian award, the Padma Shri.

He is a prolific painter, sculptor and installation artist and has a phenomenal body of work. He used watercolours to paint vivid landscapes and drew inspiration from his scenic native village and its surroundings. He also worked in oils, acrylic, clay, metals and mixed media.
