Sun Kegang was born in 1923 in Tianjin. Having studied under the guidance of Liu Zichang, he is good at Chinese painting. He was the deputy director of the editorial department of Tianjin Fine Arts Publishing House, the vice-chairman of Tianjin Artists Association, the member of Tianjin Wenlian Association, the vice-chairman of Tianjin Chinese Painting Research Association, the director of China Artists Association, and the first-level artist of the country. Enjoy the special allowance of the State Council. In 1992, Tianjin awarded him the Luxun Prize for Literature and Art. His representative works include October in Taihang Mountains, Qinling Smoke and Clouds, Beauty of Emei, Life in Mountain and Li Bai's Poetry. He has more than ten kinds of publications, such as Sun Kegang's Painting Collection, Landscape Skills and Drawings of Landscape Classes.
