Tuomusi was born in 1932 in Tumute Zuoqi, Inner Mongolia. He graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1958. In 1963, after graduating from the oil painting research class of Central Academy of Fine Arts, he was assigned to teach in the Department of Fine Arts of Inner Mongolia Normal University. In 1987, he won a special prize for literary and artistic creation in Inner Mongolia. He led a group of young artists to grow up, forming a unique style - the distinct "Grassland Painting School", which is known as "pioneering Inner Mongolia Painting School". In 1990, he was awarded the Arts Education Award of Wu Zuoren International Fine Arts Foundation. Since 1990, he has enjoyed the special allowance of the State Council. He was a member of the Arts Education Committee of the State Education Commission, vice-chairman of Inner Mongolia Literature Federation and chairman of Inner Mongolia Artists Association. He is also the director of the Chinese Artists Association, the vice director of the Oil Painting Art Committee of the Chinese Artists Association, the executive director of the Chinese Oil Painting Society, the honorary chairman of the Inner Mongolia Artists Association and the director of the Inner Mongolia Oil Painting Art Committee. His representative works include "Women in the Haystack", "Close", "Long Neigh", "Old Man" and so on. Published by the "Tumusi Oil Painting Selection", "Tumusi Painting Collection", "Tumusi Oil Painting Selection", "Tumusi Oil Painting Techniques", "Tumusi" and so on.
