Wu Qifeng was born in Lanxi, Zhejiang Province in 1937. In 1961, he graduated from the Department of Chinese Painting, Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts and was assigned to work in Xinjiang. He has successively served as Secretary-General of Xinjiang Association of Fine Arts, Secretary-General of Xinjiang Federation of Literature and Culture, Chairman of Xinjiang Association of Fine Arts, Director of China Association of Fine Arts, Judge of National Exhibition of Fine Arts, General Judge of National Exhibition of Fine Arts, and Member of the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Political Consultative Conference of Xinjiang Autonomous Region. He is currently the honorary chairman of the Xinjiang Association of Fine Arts and the director of the Chinese Association of Fine Arts. He has held personal art exhibitions in Urumqi, Beijing and Taiwan. In 1999, he was awarded "100 Excellent Literati and Artists with High Art Attainment and Moral Integrity" in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The main works are "Secretary Squatting Point", "Country Teacher", "Oasis Playing New Songs", "Drunken Autumn" and so on.
