Inspecting that luminal space between belonging and un- belonging, displacement and homelessness in the face of a natural disaster, what the artist tries to achieve is a sense of containment. Developing the microcosm of the boat as an entity that contains the entire existence of a person, his basic needs, the entire worth of his material possessions, bundled and thrust into the vessel upon which he has set sail. The boat suggests notions of migration and survival, experienced most acutely by the deprived masses of the society, which feature prominently in several past work of the artist.
