Sun Jingbo was born in 1945 in Mouping, Shandong Province. He was admitted to the Oil Painting Research Course of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1978, and then stayed at the Mural Department to teach. He was successively the deputy director and director of the Mural Department until 2005. He is currently a professor in the Mural Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, director of the First Studio, doctoral supervisor, deputy director of the Oil Painting Art Committee of the Chinese Artists Association, deputy director of the Chinese Fresco Society, etc. In 2000, he was awarded the title of "Expert who has made outstanding contributions to the development of cultural and educational undertakings in China" by the State Council and enjoys the special allowance of the State Council. His representative works include oil paintings "A Xixinge", "Wumeng Mountain People", "Qinghai Lake", "Washan People", "Confucian Traces", "Yellow Crane Tower History", "Shenzhou Spiritual Charm" and "Genghis Khan Mausoleum Frescoes of a Generation of Tianjiao". He published Sun Jingbo Sketch Selection, Mural Painting Techniques, Sun Jingbo Oil Painting Collection, Face Wall Dream Interpretation - Selection of Sun Jingbo Murals, and so on.
