Museo Bagatti Valsecchi
Milano, Italia

Like every self-respecting noble aristocratic house, the Bagatti Valsecchi mansion had oriental carpets; this particular carpet once was in the Grand Salon, though it is now in storage. The design typical of Ushak carpets allowed it to be identified, while the larger knots helped narrow the dating of the carpet, which has been cut down a bit from the original size, and is rather worn. Probably purchased by the brothers Fausto and Giuseppe at the end of the 19th century, the carpet is not displayed.
