Valet Dystopique

Jack of diamonds card. Dystopian theme. A representation of the card with a sudden sense of falling apart and shattering. Providing an illusion that the whole image was a diamond once but now the facets are interrupted by the dystopian not in. Valet Dystopique is the literal French translation of "Dystopian Jack". Kelvin Lopez's Trèfle Utopique and Valet Dystopique were created in part of the 'Utopia/Dystopia' portfolio, curated by artist Miyo Stevens-Gandara. Miyo invited 26 artists to each pick two cards from a full deck, incorporating a diverse range of interpretations and ideas into a single, unified collection. Lopez's utopian print occupies space with an array of textures and organic shapes. While, in his dystopian image, Lopez represents a sudden sense of falling apart and shattering. What was once a diamond is now interrupted, fractured, and fragmented.
