Buried for more than a century, the Valongo Docks was found in excavations made during the revitalization works of the Port Zone of Rio de Janeiro in 2011. Gateway to over 1 million African slaves in Brazil in the nineteenth century, the pier it was the largest port receiver slaves in the world. Located between the streets Coelho e Castro and Sacadura Cabral, the Valongo has about 350 meters long.
