Mauricio Pezo and Sofía von Ellrichshausen live and work in Concepción, a city in southern Chile. They debuted on the global architectural scene with a mixture of simplicity and originality. In a world where everything seemed to be already done, and precisely because of this—the search for novelty was leading to arbitrary, superfluous forms that will be judged very negatively in time—their work was able to stand out in a very calm.
Their basic, poetic language has expanded into two different fields: the domestic space of the private house, and intervention in public spaces. Regarding the former, Pezo von Ellrichshausen have managed to remain true to their search, maintaining classical wisdom without caving in to conservative conventions; regarding the latter, they have animated open spaces by deploying the overlap between artistic installations and landscape architecture.
