Various Bronze and Iron Artifacts

At the Gugichon site in Naju, several pit graves believed to belong to local chiefs were identified. Various artifacts were found in these tombs, including black burnished pottery, raised-design pottery, accessories for Korean-style bronze daggers, and iron tools. Notably, the iron artifacts found here are similar to those excavated from first-century BCE tombs in the Yeongnam region. Given that iron was the most advanced material of that era, these items were likely acquired through exchange with neighboring regions. This in turn indicates that the social status and hierarchy of the local community was significantly strengthened during this period.
