Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas
Madrid, Spain

This tubular-shape vase with a big wave as ornament was designed by Adolf Beckert, artist, designer and Czech professor, a specialist in glass. The formal design and decoration are from 1905. It is inscribed in the context of Vienna’s secession. The decoration is inspired by Japanese art, in Hokusai’s (1760-1849) famous print “The Great Wave of Kanagawa”.
