The vase has the inscription "1923" under the foot and was probably made for the first International Exhibition of the Decorative Arts. It was donated to the City of Milan by Luigi Mangiagalli who was then mayor of Milan and chairman of the Board of Directors of the 1923 Monza Biennial.
