Guan Zilan (Violet Kwan), born in Guangdong province. She graduated from the Department of Oil Painting of the Shanghai Chinese Arts University in 1927 , in Shanghai under the instruction of Chen Baoyi. In the same year, she went to Japan for advanced studies and enrolled in Tokyo Institute of Culture. Her artworks have been exhibited by Nika Exhibition, Ueno Art Exhibition and Hyogo Art Exhibition on many occasions. In 1930 her oil painting Narcissus was published as postcard by Japanese government. After returning home she held solo exhibitions many times in Shanghai.
