The work belongs to a series of flower vases commissioned by Ligabue in his last period of activity. The vase is placed outdoors, the flowers, in the foreground, are open and carefully drawn. There are, as in many works by Ligabue, two insects. A bee, symbol of life, and a black and white butterfly, sign of the artist's satisfaction with the work he has created.
