This painting was finished in June 1890, when Van Gogh had been suffering from both mania and depression. Sometimes he burst out great creativity and emotions, while sometimes he was succumbed by solitude and melancholy. Thus, this painting is not only a vivid depiction of everyday objects, but also an eruption of artistry and talents at the epitome of his artistic practice. Although at that moment, his life countdown had already began.
