When on diplomatic service in Vienna in 1737, Marquis Carlo Ginori hired two labourers from the Du Paquier factory and took them to his estate in Doccia, near Florence, to start up the production of porcelain. His interest in Baroque sculpture and led Ginori to purchase models from the heirs of the Florentine sculptors Massimiliano Soldani Benzi and Giovan Battista Foggini, and have them copied in porcelain. The two vases with the Triumphs were taken from works by Soldani Benzi. Under the supervision of the sculptor Gaspero Bruschi, porcelain copies were made of Greek and Roman statues, including famous works from the Tribuna degli Uffizi, such as the Dancing Faun
