Vessel with four little stands. It has a handle that is at the same time an outlet; the shape and kind of stands are characteristic of the preclassic period. The body is a mix silhouette decorated with the “lost-wax casting” technique with wavy parallel lines intertwining in the center. This decorating technique is known as Usultán style or negative decoration, present also in pieces from Zacualpa, Guatemala. It is probable that the piece was imported from El Salvador. When it was found, it could be verified that it was covered in stucco and painted with intertwined geometrical design in red, green, yellow and purple; unfortunately, this coating was lost. It was used mainly with drinking cocoa and it belongs to a grave good in the Tomb I from the Mound I, one of the richest graves in the site.Dra. Federica Sodi MirandaColaboradores: Arqlgo.
