From a lowered point of view, the painting shows the imposing image of the Ponte di Veja, a natural arch resulting from the evolution of a cave in the territory of Sant'Anna d'Alfaedo in Lessinia. Beraldini portrays the majestic and mythological nature of the place, surrounded by rock walls, vegetation and waterways. The unusual structure of the bridge has always attracted and inspired the imagination of visitors: Dante Alighieri, according to the popular vulgate, is inspired by it for the Malebolge of the VIII Canto of the Inferno, Andrea Mantegna depicts it in the fresco on the west wall of the Camera degli Sposi in the Castle of San Giorgio in Mantua.
