This Venetian Chest is made of carved wood, decorated with geometrical and floral ornaments in low relief. The decoration is confined only on the frontal part of the chest. Continuous carved triangles form a frame that encloses representations of branches and flowers, growing out of richly decorated pots. The two front legs of the chest imitate lion legs, a common Venetian feature. The decorative style and the carving technique attest to the attribution of the work to 17th century Venice.
