Anatomist Felice Fontana opened his wax modeling workshop on the anatomy of the human test in 1775 in Florence. Joseph II visited the famous workshop and ordered a collection of 1192 pieces for the Vienna Military Surgery Academy (Josephinum). The supine female figure depicting the lymphatic system is also referred to as "Venus Anatomica", its counterpart being "Anatomica Gynecologum" in the Josephinum of Vienna.
