The subject is taken from a saying quoted by Terence ('The Eunuch', 732): 'Sine Baceho et Cererefriget Venus' ('Without Bacchus and Ceres, Venus grows cold'). DPG165 seems to be a sketch for a picture in the Akademie der bildenden Künste Vienna. Both were published by Müller-Hofstede in 1967 as Rubens, but the attribution is not generally accepted.
