Venus

Venus is one of the tapestries in the "The Planets" series, displayed in the Room of Tapestries and Liturgical Ornaments. It depicts the planet Venus, the goddess associated with the deity of love, dressed in a tunic and covered with a cloak. In the Roman calendar, April was the month dedicated to the goddess Venus, and her birth is associated with the foam of the sea. On the tapestry, to her side, a cupid with a bow stands at one end of the fountain, and in the center, a large table with diners. On the left, a man and a woman engage in courtship.
