The" Professional" series of clarinets by Robert Malerne was built in the 1970s before the company was acquired by Marigaux in 1975. Robert Malerne established his workshop towards the end of 1931 by acquiring the businesses of Louis Léon Lebret (1888–1932), who earned a gold medal in 1897 and previously worked for Louis Lot. The oboe, flute and clarinet workshop had one hundred-odd employees and its instruments were regularly exported to the United States.
