Vertical aerial photograph of the City of London and environs

This vertical aerial photograph was taken by the Royal Air Force in August 1944. It shows clearly the devastation wrought on the City of London by aerial bombing during the Second World War. Just to the right of centre is St Paul's Cathedral, which, incredibly, sustained little damage during the course of the war.
