This vertical aerial photograph was taken by the Royal Air Force in the 1940s. It shows York Railway Station and the rail track around it. Much of the station roof has been damaged or destroyed - the ribs of the wrought-iron roof trusses can be seen, with the station platforms exposed. The station was repaired in 1947.
