Vertical aerial view of the City of London showing bomb damage near St Paul's Cathedral

This vertical aerial photograph from the summer of 1944 reveals the damage caused to the City of London during the Second World War. Near the centre of the image is St Paul's Cathedral, which, while hit by the Luftwaffe, suffered relatively little damage during the Blitz.
