The vessel has a cream base with red painted fine line drawing. This painted scene on the stirrup spouted vessel shows six runners probably on a desert landscape , identifiable by the wavy lines of the sand dunes and the typical desert plants , such as cacti. Each runner holding a bag in his right hand and wearing an elaborate headdress with a jaguar head on top. The feet of the figures are painted red up to the knees. There are painted designs of floral decorations below the stirrup and geometric designs over it. The Mochicas used swift messengers, who carried their messages in small leather pouches: a service which was facilitated by the splendid network of roads covering the Mochica territory.
