Below-the-knee length dress. Loose-fitting, with a square collar, lapels and short drop-shoulder sleeves. The dress opens at the front to the hipline. Fastens with self-fabric buttons sewn directly to the fabric, with no loop. The back is loose- fitting, with a central seam and darts on the shoulders. The front has oblique darts that go from the waist to the armhole.

Made in Spain. It is an example of the semi-fitted line that Balenciaga started to develop in 1951 and which was another step in the sartorial revolution that began in 1947 with the “barrel” line. The daring silhouette and rigorous black colour seem more apropos to the minimalist 1990s than the period in which it was created.
