Vesting the Thief for the Processions

In the dressing area set up in the courtyard behind the Church of San Giovanni, the mayor of Mendrisio, who takes on the role of the thief in the Thursday procession, has his wig and costume adjusted before joining the performance. This scene, linked to the Holy Week Processions of Mendrisio, offers a glimpse into the moment of preparation and the active involvement of the local community. As with all participants, his transformation into the character is made possible by the careful work of volunteers and municipal staff, who each year prepare the costumes and organize the event.
