"Vestito-Natura," a polyurethane foam carpet that is intended to be worn, has multifaceted functions. It is an artwork but, above all, a way of being, the effect being that the individual wears it and becomes part of nature, successfully merging art and life. "Vestito-Natura Betulle"—where the trunks of the birch tree become one with the body—is an immersive work, because the person who wears it becomes the birch tree; the performer are nature and culture at the same time.
Both of the nature vests from 1967, "Vestito-Natura Betulle" and "Vestito-Natura Sassi," were presented by Gilardi at the Piper Club in Turin, worn by young women patrons, along with his "Tappeti-Natura," to highlight that a carpet can be used like a painting, but also like a second skin.
