This sword guard is considered to have been created by the 3rd head of the Nishigaki school, Kanshiro (1680-1761), based on the style of work.
Following the style of the 2nd Kanshiro’s work, he produced excellent sword guards with openwork and nunomezogan (cloth-weave inlay) designs.
This well-balanced sword guard in the shape of mokko (flowering quince) has an engraving design of waves.
