Vicente Saldívar, "El Zurdo de Oro" (1943-1985), debuted as a professional boxer in 1961 and was crowned world featherweight champion in 1964, under the direction of Adolfo “Negro Pérez”, being the second Mexican to do so. After a brief hiatus in 1967, he regained the world title in 1970. He retired permanently in 1973, accumulating a total of 45 fights with only three defeats.
