Victor to Nebrija in Salamanca

If we read the inscription carefully, we see that it does not say "this was the house" (haec) but "here was the house" (hic fuit domus) of Elio Antonio de Nebrija, called in his time eximio debellatori barbariae, "insignia combatant against the incultura".
