Windsor Castle is England's largest castle and royal palace. A castle has been here since the Duke of Normandy's conquest of England in the 11th century.

Formerly the King's Watch Tower, the Victoria Tower stands at the south-east corner of the castle. It was built in 1677-9 by Hugh May, controller of works, and was modified by Jeffrey Wyatville, who undertook changes to the site in first half of the 19th century. The Victoria Tower contained the queen's bedroom, bathroom, dressing room and sitting room, and rooms for the royal children.
