On December 21, 1870, Woodhull, with the assistance of Benjamin Butler, Civil War General and later Governor of Massachusetts, appeared before the Senate and House of Representatives to deliver a “memorial” or argument for a law carrying “the execution of the Constitution” regarding the right of women to vote. A a copy of that memorial can be found to the right.
