This artifact is part of a donation from Steve Meretzky, a computer game designer, producer and artist, as well as an author of several books and articles. The vast majority of his computer games were text-based interactive fiction stories. He is especially known for his work with the company Infocom in the early 1980's, and for his collaboration with author Douglas Adams on an electronic version of the novel The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Other popular works include Leather Goddesses of Phobos and Zork Zero. The packaging style of these games was known for being extremely bright and colorful, which was a huge asset in marketing. Meretzky also created Spellcasting game trilogy, the flagship adventure series of Legend Entertainment. In 1999, PC Gamer Magazine accorded Meretzky the title of "Game God" in recognition of his contribution to the history of computer gaming.
