Publisher Strategic Simulations Inc. released No Greater Glory: The American Civil War in 1991. This grand strategy wargame places players in the role of Abraham Lincoln or Jefferson Davis. Players guide the Union or the Confederate Army through the Civil War, recreating famous battles and events. Along the way players make political and strategic decisions which influence the development of the war. They assign cabinet members, plan finances, deal with dissenting states, handle foreign affairs, appoint generals and make tactical battle decisions. The fate of America rests on the ability of the player to make strategic decisions regarding economics, politics, and battle. No Greater Glory is considered one of the greatest Civil War simulations ever made and is a classic PC wargame.
