In 2010, Treyarch developed and Activision published the seventh game in the Call of Duty franchise: Call of Duty: Black Ops. Another first-person shooter available on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS and Wii, and mobile phones, this game takes place largely in the 1960s during the Cold War. In locales such as Cuba, Vietnam, and Russia, players act as various Special Forces soldiers who accomplish black, or covert, operations behind enemy lines. The single-player campaign storyline focuses on a chemical weapon codenamed Nova-6, and consists of these stealth missions, which include a series of objectives that must be completed to move on. An on-screen compass helps the player locate the next objective. Black Ops features new weapons such as crossbows and ballistic knives. The online multiplayer mode, hugely popular and the crux of Call of Duty's success, consists in Black Ops of two teams on a single mission. Black Ops also utilizes the experience points and unlockable rewards used in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The killstreak feature continues to be employed, and among the newest killstreak amenities are weapons such as guided missiles. Intent on customizable play, developers equipped Black Ops with Create-a-Class 2.0, an editing mode that allows players to personalize their character's appearance, weapons, and perks. Players can use CoD Points as currency to buy new equipment, or gamble them away in four different game modes. A new cooperative mode introduced in Black Ops is titled Zombies, in which four online players or two split-screen players engage in combat against the undead. As of 2013, Black Ops claims the title of best-selling game of all time in the United States, with over 13.7 million copies sold.
