This painting depicts the refugee ship 'Skyluck' on 29 June 1979 when its refugee cargo stranded the ship on Lamma Island. The ship had slipped unannounced into Hong Kong in the early hours of 8 February 1979.

Nearly 5 months later, still aboard, the refugees took a hazardous step which resulted in the ship sinking by the stern. The following year the ship was refloated, towed to Junk Bay and broken up.
