Beijing, China

This seal is fashioned from stone quarried from the Shoushan area of Fujian Province. The knob is carved as a dragon in the sea; the upper part of the dragon reveals the natural color of the stone. The sides are carved in relief with a kui dragon design. Meanwhile, the bottom features an inscription of Chinese characters in the seal script. The exquisite work displays the advanced craftsmanship of the period.
