View of Almshouse

One of the first paintings to be gifted to the Michener Art Museum shortly after it opened in 1988 was this landscape scene of the Bucks County Almshouse by an unknown artist. It is rendered in a topographical style typical of America’s earliest landscape paintings, that depict specific features of a site or terrain for local residents.
