View of boundary wall of Sonawala building, an Art Deco apartment building situated on Netaji Shubash Chandra Bose Road along Marine Drive. Building's elements draw inspiration from the surrounding context. Features like the ocean, waves, and nautical imagery have been incorporated into the building design. In contrast to the grill work along Oval Maidan, grill design in the photograph are made primarily with reinforced concrete cement to ensure longevity. The low height of compound wall, defined by the grill, allows for ventilation, light and an uninterrupted sea view.
This building is a part of 'The Victorian Gothic and Art Deco Ensembles of Mumbai', a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was inscribed to the list on June 30, 2018.
