The Colon Theather is a biulding designed by the French architect Claude Sahut, inaugurated in 1914, and later declared National Monument in 1972. The theater is located opposite to San Martín Plaza, formerly Zela Plaza. In its early years, it had only two floors and an art nouveau-style dome. The building was remodeled to its current appearance in 1936 by the engineer Alejandro Garland, bringing important changes such as the vertical growth of the building. In its facilities numerous theatrical works were presented, and since 1921, also cinematographic projections.
