24 Kyo-machi, Chuo-ku, Kobe, Japan

In the center of this painting, the Nihonbashigawa river runs forward. We can see snow-covered Mt. Fuji on the distant horizon behind the Edo castle in the background. In the foreground, Nihonbashi bridge, the start point of the Tokaido road, spans the river. A lot of people come and go on this bridge. While some men bring some kinds of fishes because there was a large scale fish market near this bridge, some people wear strange costume for their street entertainments.
