Samuel Taylor served on the aircraft carrier Intrepid during two Vietnam War deployments, or WESTPAC cruises, in 1966 and 1967. Taylor was an avid photographer, and he amassed a large collection of slides taken with a camera he purchased in Japan. His collection captures the crew at work on the ship and on liberty in ports of call. This photograph captures the view from Victoria Peak in Hong Kong, a popular attraction for sailors and other tourists. Intrepid is moored in the harbor at right.
